************ URGENT URGENT URGENT URGENT URGENT URGENT URGENT ************ Unfortunately, due to a lack of time to fulfil his duties, Tim Cooke the Vice-President has resigned his post. This means we now have a vacancy to be filled on the Committee. This would normally require us to hold an EGM for an election, but as we already have an EGM scheduled for this coming Tuesday we can kill two birds with one stone. The deadline for motions for the EGM is still midday tomorrow (Saturday), but to give candidates a chance to come forward the deadline for nominations for the post of Vice President will be midday on Monday the 10th. Candidates will need to gain signatures of two other Society members to be eligible. Completed nominations should be placed in the President's (Steve Strafford's) pigeon-hole in Christ's College. For those of you who haven't done this before, the election is held by secret ballot and a simple majority will decide the winner. In the event of a tie, the President may use a casting vote or name a contest to decide the winner. This could be your chance to ascend the lofty heights of power... Just think of those CV points! If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of the Committee members. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SAM 07/02/97 For older newsletters and newsletterettes, look at the Society web page at http://hammer.chu.cam.ac.uk/~sam1007/curs/news/ or mail the Secretary
